Paul McCartney Died Myth

Beatle Paul McCartney died in a car crash and an impostor replaced him. Of all the stories associated with the Beatles, this is definitely the ultimate Paul McCartney myth.

Paul McCartney supposedly died in a car crash after he left Abbey Road studios, following an argument with the other Beatles. In order not to lose their fans, the Beatles replaced him with an impostor, Billy Shears.

Album sleeves and lyrics provided so-called “clues” to the deception.

The “Paul is Dead” myth first appeared in print in the an Ohio Student newspaper, with Tim Harper’s story, Is Beatle Paul McCartney Dead? A month later a mystery caller telephoned Detroit DJ Russ Gibb and told him to play Revolution 9 backwards. He played it live on air and his audience heard “turn me on dead man”.

Fred LaBour heard the Russ Gibb Show, researched some more “clues” and wrote his article McCartney dead; new evidence brought to light.

From there the myth took on a life of its own.
Is it a hoax, an impostor or all just a series of (200+) coincidences?
Listen to the show and make up your own mind…
