Rolling Stones: Brian Jones Years
Brian formed his first group in early 1962. Geoff Bradford and Brian Knight left this original lineup, to be replaced by Mick Jagger and Keith Richard. By early 1963 they were joined by Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts. The classic lineup of the Rolling Stones was in place.
When Andrew Loog Oldham became the band’s manager he changed the band’s focus from founder Jones, to lead singer Mick Jagger.
The band progressively moved away from the blues that Jones loved to play. This led to the band sacking Jones in 1969, despite the fact that he originally put the band together.
A month later he joined the macabre 27 Club, when he drowned in his own swimming pool.
