Jimi Hendrix Biography
It all started for Jimi Hendrix when he joined his first group in 1958.
Before finding international fame he recorded and toured with the likes of Little Richard, the Isley Brothers and Jackie Wilson.
In 1965 he signed a exclusive management deal with Ed Chalpin and this consequently came back to haunt him.
In 1966 he found fame with the Jimi Hendrix Experience after he signed another management contract, this time with Chas Chandler. Ed Chalpin took a very dim view of Hendrix’s new deal because he was still under contract to him.
Hey Joe was the first single from the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Jimi’s version was based on the Tim Rose arrangement of the song.
He became one of the true icons of rock’n’roll but the wranglings over who was owed what, continued long after Jimi’s untimely death at the age of 27 in 1970…
