Story of the Rolling Stones, from Brian Jones’s first lineup to their acclaimed Exile on Main Street album – Rolling Stones First Decade.

TO HEAR THE SHOW AGAIN…
The Rolling Stones Story – Tony Higginson’s Book Club

The band gave its first performance as the “Rollin’ Stones” when they played London’s Marquee Club on 12 July 1962.

Founded by Brian Jones, The Rolling Stones First Decade looks at how the band came together. The journey through the Brian Jones Years and the involvement of managers Andrew Loog Oldham and Allen Klein. In 1969 the band sacked Brian Jones from the very band he formed in 1962. Mick Taylor replaced him and this story follows the main events in the band’s story up to the album Exile on Main Street.

Derek Shelmerdine presents the outline of the story, with Tony and his other guests adding their own Stones stories and observations. There will be also be live music, poetry readings and some very lively conversation. Not to forget the recorded music from the Stones and others, to punctuate the story.

This experience is live Facebook and Zoom at 7.30 pm (UK) – feel free to join in the conversation.
