As with many of the people who came to fame in the early 1960s, Ringo Started out in various skiffle groups in Liverpool. He made his debut at the Cavern Club with the Eddie Clayton Skiffle Band on the 31 July 1957. After that, he joined the The Darktown Skiffle Group.                

In early 1959 Ringo joined Raving Texans. Subsequently, they took the name Storm and the Hurricanes, one of the most popular band on the Liverpool music scene.

It was during his time with Rory Storm that the band decided to give themselves stage names. Accordingly, drummer Ritchie Starkey – Ringo Starr. This is where Ringo remained until he joined the Beatles in the summer of 1962.

By the turn of the decade beat music became the dominant force. The Cavern Club opened as a jazz club but recognised this change in musical taste. Accordingly, the Cavern held its first “Beat Night” on 25 May 1960. Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, with Ringo appeared that night.

Rory Storm and the Hurricanes and the Beatles were both playing in Hamburg in the autumn of 1960. As a result, Ringo and the Beatles recorded together for the first time on 15 Oct 1960.

Still with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, Ringo officially became a Beatle and played the first gig at the Fab Four on 18 Aug 1962 at Port Sunlight Horticulture Society – After Show Dance.
