In December 1968 the Rolling Stones recorded a TV special, Rock’n’Roll Circus. John Lennon made his first appearance outside the Beatles.

He called himself “Winston Leg-Thigh” and his band the Dirty Mac; with a lineup of, the Stones’ own Keith Richard on bass, Jimi Hendrix’s drummer Mitch Mitchel and guitar legend Eric Clapton.

Rock’n’Roll Circus was finally released on a DVD in 1996.
