When John Lennon said “I hope we passed the audition” at the end of the rooftop performance, he was probably referring to the two auditions they failed.

When the Beatles played their farewell gig on the Apple Building rooftop on 30 January 1969, John’s parting comment was, “I’d like to say, on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we passed the audition”.
Quite possibly a reference to the two auditions they failed:
the Billy Fury audition on 10 May 1960
and the Decca audition on 1 January 1962.
