Author Derek Shelmerdine will be at The Bookshop from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, to chat about rock’n’roll and sign copies of his book, Rock’n’Roll Unravelled.
Rock’n’Roll Unravelled tells the story of rock’n’roll from its roots to mid-1970s punk. Not just the music but also the social factors which influenced it, such as the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights struggle.
Unique three-part structure
The book is uniquely structured into three parts, Timeline, It Happened on this Day and Pocket Histories.
It Happened on This Day
Set out in a diary format from 1 January to 31 December. The stories cover everything about the music of the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and its roots: bands, artists, landmark albums and singles, gigs and festivals plus so much more
Timeline
Timeline lists all of the items in It Happened on This Day in date order. Consequently, the reader can see careers and genres rise and fall. It is also a great way to see what else was going on when, say, The Beatles released their first single.
Pocket Histories
Once again, It Happened on This Day is completely cross-referenced and builds up a picture of artists, bands and events.
