The First Recording Session

John, Paul and George recorded together for the first time in July 1958. They called themselves the Quarry Men at the time.

During the session they recorded two songs, a cover and an original song. For the cover they recorded Buddy Holly’s That’ll be the Day. In addition they chose one of their own compositions, In Spite of All the Danger. The song was a joint effort between Paul McCartney and George Harrison.

The Quarry Men became The Beatles in the summer of 1960. This was just before their first trip to Hamburg.

Two years later drummer Pete Best was replaced by Ringo Starr. They were now the Fab Four. Shortly after this they released their first UK single, Love Me Do.

And the rest… as they say… is history…
