1970 50th Anniversaries Radio Show

1970 was a pivotal year in rock’n’roll history.
It was the end of the line for the world’s most famous group – The Beatles.
New music genres emerged, including heavy metal, space rock and glam rock.
The festivals that year included the first Glastonbury and the Jimi Hendrix Isle of Wight.
The Who recorded Live at Leeds.
Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix both joined the macabre 27 Club.
plus, plus, plus…

THE ROCK’N’ROLL UNRAVELLED SHOW

We’ll be looking at how rock’n’roll came about.
It’s development into rock music in the mid-1960s and the array of rock genres which followed in the late 1960s and ‘70s.
Blues, R&B, rock’n’roll, rock, prog, folk rock, country rock, psychedelia, glam, early metal, punk, new wave… they will all find their way into the shows.
Plus artists and bands some well known, some more on the cult side. Stories behind classic singles and albums, record labels, venues, gigs…
Not forgetting the people behind the scenes, managers, promoters, writers, Svengalis – the people who made it all happen.

If it’s relevant to the music of the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s I’ll be talking about it.
There will be some great music, some you’ll recognise and some that you might well be hearing for the first time.
