Shelmerdine has produced a comprehensive guide that’ll prove invaluable to anybody with an unhealthy interest in music’s minutiae. That’ll be the RC reader then.”

Rock’n’Roll Unravelled

With its unique three-section format, Rock’n’Roll Unravelled tells the story of rock’n’roll from its roots to mid-1970s punk. As well as the music, the book also looks at the social factors which influenced the sounds of the day. This includes the Vietnam War, Civil Rights struggle and America’s fear of communism. One of the more obscure Vietnam War songs was Battle Hymn of Lt Calley by C Company featuring Terry Nelson.
