Manager – Brian Epstein

Beatles to Moody Blues to Wings
Brian Epstein managed both The Beatles and The Moody Blues

Brian Epstein became their manager in September 1965. This was after their debut single, Go Now! topped the UK charts. At this time, they were an R&B band and their hit was a cover of Bessie Banks’ earlier R&B hit.

Shortly after signing up with Brian Epstein, the Moody Blues supported the Beatles on a UK package tour. This turned out to be the Beatles’ last-ever UK tour. Brian Epstein and Arthur Howes promoted the tour. In addition to the Beatles and Moody Blues, other artists on the bill included Liverpool singer Beryl Marsden and UK R&B group the Paramounts. The Paramounts later morphed into Procol Harum.

About the bookRock’n’Roll Unravelled

I say cover
Rock’n’Roll Unravelled

In short, Rock’n’Roll Unravelled tells the story of rock’n’roll from its roots to mid-1970s punk.

In addition to the music, the book looks at the social factors influencing the music. The Vietnam War, fear of communism and Civil rights struggle certainly helped to shape the sounds of the time.
