The Rock’n’Roll Unravelled Hour June

The RocknRoll Unravelled Hour June, Derek Shelmerdine in conversation with host Dave Roberts on his show Music for Grown Ups on Meridian FM, 8 June 2017.
What was happening in the rock’n’roll world in June down the years, from the roots to mid-1970s punk…

The show is based on information in Derek Shelmerdine’s book Rock’n’Roll Unravelled, which tells the story of rock’n’roll from its roots to mid-1970s punk. Not just the story of the music but also the external events which influenced it, such as the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights struggle.

The stories in the RocknRoll Unravelled Hour June include: The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper album, the Monterey Pop Festival, rock’n’roll’s very own politician – Screaming Lord Sutch, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s 1st album – six years from recording to release, American folk revival came of age with the Kingston Trio, and much more…

Please note that the music has been edited out of the show for copyright reasons.
