Four months later Elvis started filming on his 15th Movie – Viva Las Vegas. He became romantically linked with his co-star, Ann-Margaret. They were inseparable and the press reported that they were having an affair. Elvis and Ann-Margaret recorded three duets but only The Lady Loves Me made it into the movie.
Elvis’s manager, Colonel Parker, was concerned that his co-star was eclipsing Elvis in the movie.

Elvis told The Colonel that he wanted him to manage Ann-Margret but that never quite worked out.

In late 1964 headlines proclaimed, “Elvis Wins Love of Ann-Margret”. There was even talk of marriage at the time.

In early 1973 Elvis spotted Ann-Margret in his audience at one of his in Las Vegas concerts. He told the lighting engineer to “Leave the light on her man. I just want to look at her”.

As well as almost being Mrs Presley, Ann-Margret also provides three degrees of separation with the Who. In 1975 she starred in the movie version of Pete Townshend’s rock opera, Tommy
